The final hole of a course should be a risk/reward type hole to make your matches more exciting, and that’s exactly what you get here. You can play this dogleg left par 5
conservatively to protect a lead or take a chance and try to make a birdie. The aggressive player will try to cut the corner to set up an easier second shot. This line brings out-of-bounds and trees into the
picture. Push your tee shot a bit and the two fairway traps can make a par a challenge. A good drive leaves a fairly simple medium to long iron if you plan to lay up, or possibly a chance to get on or near the green
in two with a fairway metal. The conservative player will hit short of the traps on the right side of the fairway. This still leaves a long iron or wood to get to the top of the hill and set up the approach shot. A
good second shot to the top of the hill leaves a shot of 125 yards or so into the large, well bunkered green. No lead is safe going into this hole, which rewards aggressive, but smart play, and severely punishes any
errant shots.
